Winter Fun

I decided I better do at least one post of all the snow around here just for memory sake. The kids and Jon enjoyed building this fort out front. We had 16" of snow. The drifts were even deeper, some around 2 feet. For Oregon, this is a lot of snow. Haven't had storms like this since 1968. This year ranked #3 of all storms recorded in Oregon history.
I think it looks like dentures, or giant mega blocks.
We had layers of snow, then ice, then more snow. When the kids walked on it and broke it up, our yard was covered in these shards of ice sticking up out of the snow. Zach enjoyed picking them up and breaking them over his head. Must be a boy thing to do. It was hilarious to watch our mini dachshund go out on this stuff. She'd walk along the top of the ice, and then find a weekspot and suddenly she would disappear under the snow. She is only about 7" tall, so it doesn't take much for her to disappear. We did have to clear a pathway to give her a potty spot. She enjoyed the snow with everyone else, just took more breaks to come inside and warm up.
Our lawn chair after the second snowstorm. It got a little deeper than this after the last storm.
JoJo knows where the warm spots in the house are. We can always find her curled up next to one of these vents.
All stores were sold out of any sleds or tubes. I found an auto store out in the country that sold me some of their big tubes for way cheap. Jon and the kids have had hours of fun on these.

Now the weather has turned more to rain, everything is a slushy mushy mess. Probably won't have snow for much longer, but if we follow the pattern of '68 we'll supposedly see more of this white stuff in January. We'll see.
